Dear Vallemar Families,

We did it! Our first week of school is complete! Thank you

to our families for helping us begin the year with such a positive start. We look forward to working in partnership with you throughout the school year. Research shows that when families are involved in their child’s education, students are more successful in school. Vallemar is known for its strong, supportive community, and we truly value this partnership.

Please join us for Back to School Night on Thursday, August 20:

Grades 3–5: Meet in the courtyard at 6:00 p.m. for a brief welcome, followed by classroom presentations from 6:15–6:45 p.m.

Grades TK–2: Meet in the courtyard at 6:45 p.m. for a brief welcome, followed by classroom presentations from 7:00–7:30 p.m.

Back to School Night is an opportunity for families to learn about classroom procedures, curriculum, activities, and the “nuts and bolts” of the school year. We hope you can join us as we continue building the strong family-school partnership that makes Vallemar such a special community!

New morning procedure: Because the play structure on the lower yard will be under construction, all students in grades 1-5 will gather either inside the Multipurpose Room (MPR) or on the upper play yard next to the MPR. Students eating breakfast should remain in the MPR. Students on the upper yard may talk with friends, walk calmly, or wait quietly for the whistle. Tag, running games, balls, play equipment, and play structures will not be available before school. The whistle will dismiss grades 4-5 to class at 8:20 AM and grades 1-3 at 8:30 AM. This calm start is designed to help students begin the day safely, regulated, and ready to learn. Thank you for helping your child understand and follow this new routine. TK/K students may gather in the MPR for breakfast or the TK/K yard and go directly to their classrooms at 8:20 am.

Lower-Yard Play Structure Construction

Construction on the lower-yard play structure will begin on Aug. 14. The construction area will remain closed and off-limits to students. Staff will review temporary yard boundaries and expectations with students, and we will share updates with families as the project progresses. Thank you for your patience while this improvement is completed.

**The side gate (near the lower yard play structure) to enter/exit the school will remain open for the first week of school only. After Aug 14, it will be closed off due to construction. After the first week of school, please use the main front doors to drop off and pick up students.  The parking lot on the side of the school will remain open for families to use.

Important Dates

Saturday, August 8: Vallemar Beautification Event, 9:00 AM-11 AM. Come join us for this annual event!

Sunday, August 9: TK/K/1-5 Playdate. Vallemar families are invited to meet one another and connect with the PTO. TK will meet at 11:00 am, K at 12:00 pm, and 1st-5th at 1:00 pm.

Tuesday, August 11: After 3:00 PM, families will receive their student's homeroom teacher and classroom location in ParentVue. Please remember that any information visible in ParentVue before then is subject to change. Here is an updated school map.

Tuesday, August 11: TK Meet and Greet, 2:30-3:00 PM; Kindergarten Meet and Greet, 3:00-3:30 PM. Both will take place in the TK/K playground and TK/K classrooms.

First Day of School - Wednesday, August 12

Students may arrive on campus beginning at 8:05 AM. Grab-and-go breakfast will be available in the MPR beginning at 8:05 AM.

• TK and Kindergarten: Soft start begins at 8:20 AM; school begins at 8:30 AM.
• Grades 1-3: School begins at 8:30 AM.
• Grades 4-5: School begins at 8:20 AM.
• Minimum-day dismissal: TK/K at 12:05 PM; grades 1-5 at 1:30 PM.

The PTO will host a Welcome to the New School Year Breakfast in the Multipurpose Room beginning at 8:35 AM. We hope you can join us and learn more about the wonderful events planned for the year. Here is a calendar of some events PTO is planning for 26/27.

Thursday, August 13 and Friday, August 14

These are full school days. TK/K students are dismissed at 12:05 PM, grades 1-3 at 2:30 PM, and grades 4-5 at 2:45 PM.

 

Meals and the Alternate Income Form

Breakfast and lunch are free for all students. Even though meals are free, every family is asked to complete one confidential Alternate Income Form per household. This information helps Vallemar qualify for funding that supports academic programs, discounted bus passes, internet services, summer programs, and other valuable resources. Our goal is 100% participation.

 

Suggested supply lists are available by grade level. We are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive school where every student can thrive.
